Questions About Dental Implants? Alliston Kind Dentistry Has Answers

Dental implants have been the largest growing area of dentistry over the last 15 years because they give us the ability to replace a missing tooth with an artificial tooth that is strong, natural in appearance and long-lasting. As with all our procedures, our dentists and staff strive to make the placement of dental implants at Alliston Kind Dentistry as comfortable and relaxed as possible for you.

How Do Dental Implants Work?
A dental implant is a titanium post that is surgically placed in the bone underlying the gums. The surgical aspect of dental implants has become extremely predictable, safe and reliable with the aid of new technology. They can be placed quickly and with minimal discomfort. Once placed, dental implants generally integrate with the bone itself in about 3 months although there are exceptions to this. Once integrated, your dentist can either place a crown on one implant to restore a single tooth or secure a bridge or denture to multiple implants to restore multiple teeth.

What Are the Advantages of Dental Implants?
Implants and implant-retained bridges and dentures do not slip as traditional dentures can and don’t cause damage to adjacent teeth as traditional bridges do. Implants also function like natural teeth in stimulating and preserving the health of underlying gum tissue and bone. For these reasons, implants are an excellent way to replace a missing tooth or provide support to an appliance which can replace all of the teeth in the mouth at once.
